UNIT 1 GYM LTD RULES & CODE OF CONDUCT

Muay Thai | Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu | Strength & Conditioning

Our gym is a place of discipline, respect, safety, and growth. All members, guests, and staff are required to follow these rules at all times.

1. CODE OF CONDUCT

1.1 Respect First

  • Treat all members, coaches, staff, and guests with dignity and respect.

  • Leave ego at the door.

  • Coaches’ instructions are final during class.

  • No bullying, intimidation, harassment, or aggressive behavior.

1.2 Zero Tolerance for Discrimination & Hate

We enforce a strict zero-tolerance policy for:

  • Racism

  • Sexism

  • Homophobia

  • Transphobia

  • Religious discrimination

  • Ableism

  • Xenophobia

  • Hate speech or hate symbols

  • Threats or acts of violence

Violations will result in immediate termination of membership and may be reported to authorities when appropriate.

1.3 Offensive Language

  • No slurs or discriminatory language of any kind.

  • No threats, intimidation, or harassment.

  • Profanity directed at others is not permitted.

  • Repeated offensive language may result in suspension or termination.

1.4 Offensive Tattoos & Symbols

  • Tattoos, clothing, or accessories displaying hate symbols, extremist imagery, gang insignia, or discriminatory messaging must be fully covered at all times.

  • Management reserves the right to deny entry if offensive imagery is visible or shown.

2. TRAINING ETIQUETTE

2.1 Respect Your Training Partners

  • Your training partner’s safety is your responsibility.

  • Tap early and release immediately.

  • No cranking submissions, uncontrolled strikes, or excessive force.

  • Match your intensity to your partner’s experience level.

  • Thank your partner after each round.

2.2 Coach Authority

  • Coaches may stop training at any time for safety reasons.

  • Follow class structure, drills, and sparring rules.

  • Do not coach other members unless authorised.

2.3 Muay Thai Sparring Rules

  • Mouthguards are mandatory for sparring

  • High quality 14-16oz gloves are required unless otherwise specified.

  • High quality Shin guards are required for sparring.

  • No elbows or knees to the head unless explicitly permitted.

  • No full-power strikes during technical rounds.

  • Stop immediately when instructed by a coach.

  • Sparring must always remain good natured. Never get angry or lose control.

  • Spar in line with the ability and size of your partner

  • Remove all jewelry before training.



2.4 Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Training Rules

  • Maintain awareness of surrounding pairs.

  • No slamming unless specifically allowed.

  • Follow belt-level restrictions.

  • Remove all jewelry before training.

3. HYGIENE & CLEANLINESS

3.1 Personal Hygiene (Mandatory)

  • Shower before training if needed.

  • Wash all training gear after every session.

  • No training with skin infections, open wounds, ringworm, staph, or contagious illness.

  • Fingernails and toenails must be trimmed.

  • Wear deodorant (avoid excessive fragrances).

3.2 Footwear Rules

  • No outdoor shoes on training mats.

  • Wear sandals or flip-flops off the mats.

  • No barefoot walking in bathrooms.

3.3 Equipment Cleanliness

  • Wipe down bags, pads, benches, machines, and weights after use.

  • Return all equipment to its designated place.

  • Dispose of rubbish and tape properly.

4. FREE WEIGHTS & STRENGTH AREA RULES

4.1 Safe Use of Equipment

  • Use safety features

  • Use spotters for heavy lifts.

  • Report damaged equipment immediately.

  • Do not attempt lifts beyond your ability.


4.2 Equipment Etiquette

  • No slamming dumbbells.

  • Do not monopolise equipment.

  • Allow others to work during busy times.

  • Re-rack all weights after use.

4.3 Supervision

  • Beginners must book an induction with one of our freelance PTs

  • Unsafe lifting techniques may result in staff intervention

  • No under 14s unless directly supervised by a member of staff.

  • 14 and 15 year olds must get permission from the duty manager to use the free weights area without direct supervision.

5. SAFETY POLICIES

5.1 Injury Protocol

  • Notify a coach immediately if injured.

  • Do not train through serious injuries.

  • Medical clearance may be required before returning to training.

5.2 Substance Policy

  • No training under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

  • No illegal substances on the premises.

  • Prescription medications affecting performance or safety must be disclosed if necessary.

5.3 Weapons

  • No weapons of any kind are permitted on gym property.

6. CULTURE & COMMUNITY

6.1 Use of Skills

  • Training is for sport, fitness, and self-defense only.

  • Using gym training to instigate violence may result in membership termination.

6.2 Social Media Conduct

  • Do not record or post footage of members without permission.

  • No online harassment of members or staff.

  • Represent the gym respectfully at all times.

6.3 Guests

  • All guests must sign a registration form and waiver.

  • Members are responsible for their guests’ conduct.

  • Management reserves the right to refuse entry.

7. FACILITY RULES

  • Arrive on time for classes unless for good reason.

  • No sideline coaching unless invited.

  • Children are not permitted on training floors unless participating in a supervised session.

  • Store personal belongings in designated areas.

  • Keep common areas clean and respectful.

8. DISCIPLINARY ACTION

Violations may result in:

  1. Verbal warning

  2. Written warning

  3. Suspension

  4. Immediate termination of membership

Serious offenses may result in immediate removal without refund.

9. CONSENT & PERSONAL BOUNDARIES

  • Respect personal and physical boundaries.

  • Stop immediately if a partner asks.

  • Any form of harassment will be investigated and addressed immediately.

10. MEMBER AGREEMENT

By training at this gym, you agree to:

  • Train safely and responsibly

  • Respect coaches and training partners

  • Maintain hygiene and cleanliness

  • Uphold gym values at all times
